This ceramic Gas Oven Flat Style Igniter Kit replaces any flat oven igniter where the ceramic is at least 5" long. You may need this part if the element itself shorted out, or if the igniter of your oven glows for more than 90 seconds without lighting the gas flame -- this indicates that the igniter is too weak to properly open the valve to allow the gas to feed through. The igniter must glow white hot to correctly light the oven; if it glows red or orange it is not functioning as it should. Re-use metal shield from old igniter. Does not replace round igniters or igniters with blue ceramic. Replacing this part will require basic hand tools, some disassembly of the oven and novice repair experience. You must unplug the oven or shut off the house circuit breaker for the appliance before installing this part. Also make sure to turn the gas valve off before the repair. Additionally, the grey coil must be handled with care.
